Many thanks for the very kind invite to come
north of the border! Lovely well run show and many thanks to Jennifer Flemming
the Cumberland show manager for doing a most excellent job of stewarding and
handling the brits and for such excellent company. Congratulations indeed to
Miss Nock’s IMP GR PR Bellringer Adhara (27j) my choice for Best Burmese Neuter
on being awarded the Overall Burmese by Steve Crow! A stunning lilac tortie who
is every inch a true Burmese! Also to Ms H Goodwin’s Ilona Cobweb (apltly
named) a Black Smoke Selkirk Rex (who I
judged in the open) for becoming Best British Kitten. The hall lighting was
brighter with natural daylight in the morning and we could easily see a change
to eye colour and coats in the late afternoon!

ANTHARY FOREVER AMBER (21c) 2yrs 5mths. Sorry to withhold but I am afraid she
was so tense and angry that I couldn’t judge her properly, despite leaving her
to relax and trying again. From what I saw I liked her type and she has
beautiful delicate lilac and pale cream mingling, but she did also show a green
rim in the morning, which incidentally
wasn’t as evident by the afternoon when the light changed. I had a long chat
with her owner who, in view of the importance of this type of award, took it
very well.

but in fabulous condition. Typy apple head shape with lovely neat ears set well

GR PC SMITH’S CH TEMPLEGATES CARMEN (39) 4YEARS 9MTHS. I see
this cat is down as just being a champion not a premier so I hope it was an
oversight as she certainly deserved the award of grand pr today. Very pretty
and balanced black tipped girl with a super apple head and solid body supported
by short thick legs. Expressive green
eyes correctly outlined in black, short nose with pale brick leather, untidy
but acceptable bite. Neat ears with plenty of width between. Excellent well
filled cheeks, short neck, straight back and a lovely cobby body shape. Tail
has rings and is a trifle short to balance but is nice and broad at the base.
Her coat is a mite long but is crisp and
very dense with medium to heavy tipping that is mainly even, just a
smatter of unevenness down the very centre of the back and tail.

PC WITHELD. GRISS’ PR GRISELIAN DISCO DIVA (40/3) 1YR 3MTHS Out of balance
lass, just needs to grow into her body length, fill out and balance the head to
body. Her head is fairly rounded but
her chin recedes so this currently makes her look more oval than round. Nice
width between the ears, but they are a bit large for her head at present, short
nose, level bite, good fullness to cheeks. Points match nicely for colour tone
which is dark chocolate but the legs and mask and tail are very brindled and
not complete. The tail is also heavily ringed and quite long to balance. Her
coat is a tad long and soft and lay flat so it needed more density. The
contrast between points and the shaded but tonally correct body colour is fine.
Pale blue nicely rounded eyes, that had a nice expression to them. Friendly girl.
BLACK SILVER TABBY

DAVIES’ ALFRESCA SILVER YASMINE 9MTHS. Sorry to withhold but as explained she
looked very kittenish and had a number of faults evident today. She is pretty
in her type but is a small light boned girl. Round head shape with large ears
that she held splayed out and appeared flared so this spoilt the balance. Her
nose is fawned and has a bump in profile, bite is level but the chin slopes
back. Cheeks need to fill more as yet. Legs a tad long and fawned at her feet.
Fairly round hazel eyes. Her coat is flat, needs more density and texture and
the pattern was a wishy washy black due to both heavy brindling and the
undercoat showing through. The butterfly was vague and the oysters were muddled
and surrounded by incomplete rings, tramlines not quite straight and brindled
too. There is just about sufficient contrast between the bright ground but this
is brindled too. Her tail needs more rings.

balanced lady of promise. Chunky girl of fabulous bone, cobby and supported by
thick legs. Open face, lovely expression, very good width between her large
round eyes of lovely orange tone, short straight broad nose, fat cheeks; level
bite and chin of good depth. Her coat is fairly short and even in length, a
mite soft and pales at the roots marginally but is a nice pale blue with just a
very light silvering at the tips. The patching is fairly balanced, well within
the required ratio of nice bright white, quite nice demarcation, just one or
two scattered hairs. Cute blue patch on chin. Fully coloured tail.
Also considered for
BOB was PROUT’S CH SKELLUM ANNIESTTREASURE (31A) 2YRS 4MTHS. A smaller lass not
of the build and stature of the winner, her type is not as open and head

is what I wrote on the results slip. I think if Jennifer and I could have fitted
him into one of our pockets we would! Amazing development for his age too.
Superb type, lovely open innocent wide eyed expression and head type. Pale and
clear blue eyes. Excellent fat cheeks; level bite, firm chin. Close coupled
cobby solid body supported by very thick chunky short legs. Beautiful points of
pale even toned lilac that matched totally. Excellent body colour contrast as
his coat is totally clear, a fraction long if I had to nit pick, clear though,
no shading and marginally soft. Overall a gorgeous boy!

ORBELL-MCQUEEN’S LARNIKAT MR BEAUBUMBLE (40/3) 6MTHS 3WKS. Very nice lad, just
slightly smaller than the winner but of good balance and weight. Round head
with neat ears that have plenty of width between them and set well. Round but smaller eyes than the winner, nice
depth of blue though, well done! Good fullness to cheeks, short nose, level
bite and chin. Points are a rich chocolate and match for colour tone but he is
brindled on the legs. Minor tonal shading to his back but this is perfectly
acceptable. Good contrast to body colour. His coat is also a fraction long but
it too is nice and dense although slightly soft. Tail is broad at base with a
fairly rounded tip.

for type and coat of good promise. Very
good Selkirk expression, lovely width between, to nit pick, ears that I would
prefer a mite more medium in size, set well though. Large round eyes, lovely
expression. Short downward slanting nose, level bite and chin of good depth
that lines up. Excellent fullness to the width across the cheeks when the fur
is parted. The muzzle is just starting to develop shape and has some breadth.
Medium length legs, straight back, still to develop rectangular body shape.
Excellent coat! Pleasing texture too.
Really tight, even waves, right down to the roots and stands well away
from the body all over. Tail is a bit pointy but nice and wavy too. Whiskers
are a tad straight as are the eyebrows.

MORRISON’S KURLILOX ALYSSA (79S 40/6)
7MTHS. Super bone and body development to this lass with a very good
rectangular body shape standing on medium sized thick legs. Unfortunately her
head shape isn’t in balance at present and she isn’t as full cheeked as the
winner when considering where I would expect her head development to be at this
age. Plenty of width between correct ears for size and shape. Slightly long
downward slanting nose; Level bite but chin slopes back a tad. Eyes are
marginally smaller than I would like to see to be in balance too. The muzzle is
more of a pinch than developing a rectangular shape. The coat is slightly harsh
to touch, is a good mix of tight curls and waves but is slightly straighter on
her back. Tail is long and has good waves.

STERLING 1YR 7MTHS. Big well grown lad nice and solid but far too slender boned for a boy. His head is rounded but
with rather generous sized ears set quite well apart though. Short nose but has
a bump in profile and too much fawning. Round eyes of pale green. His bite is
very untidy and his chin recedes quite a bit, also has considerable fawning to
his lips and muzzle which is incorrect.
His coat is too long and soft, thus losing the pattern definition which
together with the brindling to the ground and pattern too made for a very
muddled wishy washy effect. So sorry to disappoint, but he isn’t reaching the
standard, particularly because of his coat length and pattern faults.

PC&BOB WITHELD. DAVIES ALFRESCA SILVER YEATES 9MTHS. Now this lad was very
well developed but all out of balance. His head is broad across the top between
his ears, tapering to a narrow muzzle and lacks cheeks so didn’t appear rounded
today. The ears are large and too wide at the base and not in keeping with his
head shape. The nose is a tad long, bite is level and chin slopes back. He is
weighty and solid with a long body supported by long legs so he will take some
time to fill out his frame. The coat is short but lay flat, lacked body and
density. The pattern isn’t bad at all, elongated spots and a spotty spine line
but it too was quite brindled and not a good dense black tone. His eyes were
gold sadly, they did appear slightly better in the darker lighting later in the
afternoon but still not hazel or green, yet.
Long tail that tapers. Spotty but small paws.

a nice big round head and a good body and legs to match but his type could be
better. His ears are too wide at base, set fairly well in the right place on
his forehead, in profile the nose is short, bite is level and eyes fairly round
but rather pale toned lemon, which really should be gold, orange or copper. His
cheeks are well filled. His coat is short and dense, acceptable contrast to the
black upper coat and silver undercoat creating the smoke effect. He does
however display some tabby markings which if any more defined would have
affected this award along with his eye colour. Tail is broad at base but shows
rings.
