A lovely Birthday weekend for me, my close friend Gerda stewarded for me, looking after me extremely well! A very busy day with lots of cats to judge so thanks you to all exhibitors!

AC BRITISH OR MANX CHAMPION MALE

GRCC DENNY’S CH CHESLO FELBRIGG BLUEJOHN (16) 28.5.08 Big strapping chap with very good bone to his short strong legs. Well muscled and solid of excellent weight considering he must be working too. Super British tail! He has a good broad round head and plenty of width between fairly neat ears; excellent chubby cheeks, good bite and chin. His eyes are nice and large and rounded and a gorgeous deep orange. Superb coat, for length and density and texture, a fraction darker blue than I like, just pales to the roots a little but still blue toned, tad silvered but minor. He is a little lean at the rear end but not overly so that it spoils balance. Overall a very nice cat and well worth this award.

RES GR CC FARMER’S CH PENNYDOWN XFACTOR (39) 12.7.08 Smaller chap overall and not got the roundness of head and bone of the winner. That said he is maturing quite well, just obviously a little slower than the blue. He is a balanced chap in head to body and good solid feel and has short well-boned legs, he is a just a trifle plump around the middle. Good shaped tail but heavy rings. His head is broad across the top but tapers a little at the muzzle. His coat as I have said before is a trifle long but it is dense and fairly crisp. The tipping is even except for down his spine line where it zig zags a bit and is a little heavy. Super silvery white undercoat, in very good presentation too.

AC BRITISH OR MANX CHAMPION FEMALE

GRCC CROWTHER’S CH TRUBRIT BLACK TULIP (15) 15.4.09 Beautiful balanced lady for one so young! Lovely apple head shape and cobby body of excellent weight and development. Good shapes tail. Nice short thick legs and fat round feet. Super type, nice short straight nose, good bite and chin with excellent chubby cheeks. For absolute perfection I would like her eyes to be larger, that said they are round and of a super deep orange. Jet-black short dense crisp coat, really sound to roots and shining with health. Excellent young lady well worthy of this award and promises of more to come as she matures.

RES GRCC W/H HALL’S CH CATYKES BEWITCHED (18a) I think I judged this lass last year as a promising youngster? In the words of the wise “she has gone off” She is a little lightweight and lacking in muscle tone and is actually very tense and hard to handle. She is rather immature for her age against the type and balance of the winner on the day, which doesn’t help but it does show up immaturity unfortunately. Her head shape is a trifle wedge shaped; her ears are large and a bit wide at the base. Her nose is a little long and just a tad fawned at present. The cheeks need to fill better for balance. I liked her eyes, they are nice and large and well rounded and of a reasonable orange. Her coat is short and fairly dense but a mite soft. The blue pattern is suffering from the seasonal moult and brindling generally all over and the silvery blue ground is uneven, better on her back.  I do hope she comes back “together” as discussed with her owner/breeder.

BLUE ADULT MALE

1ST CC DENNY’S CH CHESLO FELBRIGG BLUEJOHN

2ND BROWN’S ACRESWAY KRUGER 4.5.09 Loved his “pretty boy type” He is a cobby lad, smaller in every way than my winner but well built and solid and muscular with good thick short legs, a mite long in the body though. Tail is a good length but is ringed at present. His eyes are a good size and shape but are pale gold with a faint green tinge around the pupil. Nice short nose, good fullness to cheeks and level bite with firm chin. His coat is rather long and soft, lovely pale blue mind you and is almost sound to roots with very little silvering. Quite a bit of fawning to his legs?? also he needs a woman! He yelled out considerable for one bless him!

BRITISH BLUE ADULT FEMALE

1ST CC & BOB WOLFE’S BUMPKIN VIENNA 9.7.09 What a solid well developed girl indeed, super bone and 4 square cobby body with excellent tree-trunk legs (I do like to write that !) Tail is nice and broad at base and is balanced. Excellent British type as one tends to expect from this well-known breeder! Excellent full-cheeked apple head with excellent width across the top; neat ears. Superb large, round  well opened deep orange eyes. Level bite and firm chin.  Her coat for me is a little long but its very thick, plush and a lovely pale blue even under the silvering at the very tips and it is virtually sound too.

2nd HILLYARD’S MABLEDON ORGANNA SOLO 11.8.09 A pretty lass also worthy of a CC. Smaller and of medium build of very good weight and has a nice solid feel about her for her size. Super British tail. Nicely rounded head with very good width between medium ears. Good fullness to cheeks, nice round expressive pale orange eyes, short straight nose, level bite and chin. Her coat is a pleasing shade of blue, but is a little unsound, hopefully seasonal; it is nice and dense too but a mite soft.

3rd. DENNY’S CH CHESLO CARLETON SHEBA 24.5.05 Small cobby lass with a strange brown stain on her throat? She is a typy girl with a nice expression, a good round head shape with plenty of fullness to her cheeks. Neat well-set ears, a short straight nose level bite but her chin slopes away. Short straight legs, quite well boned. Her tail is thin though and short. A bit light in the body, maybe calling? Her coat is short, dense and crisp; a darker shade of blue, very silvered which is unusual in this shade of blue and is unsound at present. Not really “altogether today”

4th. KNAPP’S KERNMERE SKYSTHELIMIT 1.6.09 Small lass considering she is almost the same age as the winner, a tad slender boned for my liking too sadly. She is out of balance too at the moment; small head to body and large eared.  I think she needs to grow into herself and body up more from a show point of view. Nice round orange eyes but there is a tinge of green around the pupil at present, in this light. I liked the colour of her coat, which is nice and short and crisp, but it is rather silvered and unsound.

LILAC KITTEN

1ST (BOB N/A) MARTIN’S CHARMODEN SIMPLYKIZZIE 17.8.09 Quite a nice typed lass of good weight and has a good solid feel about her with good short reasonably boned legs. Tail is a trifle long and ringed. Her head is round but her ears are large at present and would benefit from being set further apart for her age. Her nose is short and straight, bit is marginally undershot, no matter how you look at it! firm chin. Nice round gold eyes. Her coat is a little long, reasonably dense and texture developing. Colour wise I liked it, just would prefer more of a pinky hue. BOB witheld mainly due to bite.

RED KITTEN

1ST & BOB SHEPHERD’S TRUBRIT RUBY RED 5.10.09 Typy miss!!! Good to see one though! Super apple head with neat ears set well apart, good fully fat cheeks; just a trifle square in the muzzle though. Very short nose, bite is level though and chin is firm and the same colour as the rest of her. Large round eyes bordering on being set a wee bit too far apart!  Excellent copper coloured large round eyes. Her coat is a lovely vivid red, sound to roots just has the typical heavy surface ghost markings I hope fades a bit. For length and density it is good. A little character!

BLUE NEUTER

1ST PC  CHAPMAN’S ADNOISH SAPHIRESKYE 29.5.09 Big lad still maturing of course but fairly balanced. He has excellent bone to his fairly short legs; he has a solid weighty muscular body too. His head is fairly round, large ears at present and his muzzle is a fraction squared. He needs slightly more fullness of cheeks to balance so I hope he achieves this in time. His eyes are round and gold in colour, nose is fairly short, and bite is level. His coat is reasonably short and dense; the blue is almost sound to roots but a little soft in texture.

BOB AWARDED TO: BOOTH’S GR CH & SUPREME IMP GR PR KOLINGA COUGAR. Big softee teddy bear of a cat!

BLUE-CREAM NEUTER

BOB ONLY AND AWARDED TO: MARTIN’S UK GR CH & GR PR WELLMAR ISABELLA 13.8.01. Looked fabulous today, not so much scurf evident and easier to handle!

ALSO CONSIDERED: HARRISON’S GR PR DIWALI KATALINA 12.3.06. A darker blue-cream of good type.

AC SELKIRK REX NEUTER

BOB ONLY AND AWARDED TO: NICHOLS’ GR PR CURLU NEO (79s 15d) Gorgeous red Selkirk reminded me of my own at home!  Now I see why, they are siblings!

AC BRITISH ASSESSMENT S.H. ADULT, KITTEN OR NEUTER

I was glad to have the opportunity of talking these cats through with most of their breeder/owners today. As a Bi-colour breeder and someone who used to breed Colourpointed I decided to make allowances for type today to an extent and judged on pattern, one or two scraped through their merits on this basis. I did this to help the breed move forward on pattern but discussed type at length with the breeders.

NO MERIT: SIMPSON’S ALTHALLUS ( PREFIX SPELT INCORRECTLY IN THE CATALOGUE) SAMMSON 40/4w 7.3.07 He is a big well grown chap with a round head, medium ears set well apart but a little broad at base. His nose is short and straight, level bite and chin of good depth. Cheeks well developed. His eyes are round a mid blue, slightly deep set with a mild flicker today, DV called to thoroughly check and thought it was probably more stress related and wrote in my judges book “slight bilateral instability”  he said it was clearly not sever Nystagmus on the day. His body is medium in size, he is a good weight and has good muscle tone but I feel his legs are slightly too slender boned. Good thick tail, broad at base. His coat is fairly short, crisp texture with tonal shading on the back. He has warm lilac points that don’t match tonally at present. The mask is hooded and extends too far across his cheeks and top of head. The white areas are rather creamy and yellow stained unfortunately which does rather detract too. The inverted V, in my opinion does not start on the forehead as stipulated; it actually starts between the eyes, which is incorrect according to the standard provided, which is a pity.

MERIT TO:  SIMPSON’S ALTHALLUS PANDARIUS LEGEND (ALSO SPELT INCORRECTLY) 40/3w 28.10.09   A relaxed and purring baby kitten! His head is nice and round with good full cheeks, slightly broad based ears again and his sit a little upright and tall, I would like to see more width between them too at this age. His nose is short and straight, bite is level and his chin is firm. His eyes are large and rounded with clear pale blue colouring. He has a nice cobby body of nice weight and substance. His paws are large and rounded. Quite good muscle tone too. His tail is broad at base, tapers to a slight point though with faint rings too. The coat is slightly long, is reasonably dense but a little soft. The points are a rich chocolate and match quite well. His mask is a good shape, just slightly brindled at present. Correct inverted V. Body shading is tonal and his legs and chest are white. A rather pretty boy!

MERIT TO: CAMM’S DIXYLAN PINEMARTIN DREAMS  40/4w 2.7.09 Well developed chap body wise. His head could be a little rounder; it tapers to a narrow muzzle. His ears are set just a little too high on his head and are slightly broad at base. The bite is level; the chin does slope back though. Very good fullness to cheeks. His eyes are large and round, a fraction deep set and of a pale blue. His body is well-grown, medium in size with short well-boned legs. He is a good weight for his size. His tail is thick at base and is a good length but has slight rings. His coat! Well, he is moulting heavily! Very dense still mind you, it’s fairly short in length but a little soft (understandably as he is moulting) His points are a cool pale lilac they do have a hint of pink to them though. He has a slightly offset inverted V correctly starting on his forehead. Good shape to the mask. The colour on the points don’t quite mask, his tail is a little rusty looking. Faint creamy lilac shading to his body. Correct white areas, nice and bright. Handled well.

MERIT TO:  CAMMS’ DIXYLAN CLASSY LADY 40/4w  24.5.09 Rather nervous girl who didn’t really show herself well sadly. Her head shape is fairly round but tapers to a fine muzzle. Her ears are neat and set well apart. The nose is a tad long, bite is level but the chin is weak and needs more depth. Fair cheeks. Her eyes are round but a little deep set, mid blue from what I could see as the pupils were dilated constantly, part of her tension I felt. Slender boned lass really, of reasonable weight for her medium frame, rounded paws. Slightly long tail with rings. Her coat is a little long, quite dense though, fraction soft. Offset white inverted V, not quite symmetrical, which I forgave her for. Fairly warm lilac points, matching ears and mask, tail a trifle fawned. Nice white areas that conform. Pretty eyes for expression. I hope her type improves.

MERIT TO: LEE’S SODACHICATS WELLINEVER 40/2w 15.8.08 relaxed and well-grown lad. He has a nicely rounded head shape with good breadth. Neat ears set well apart, short straight nose fairly deep break though, level bite and good depth of chin. Excellent fullness to cheeks. Lovely large round pale but clear blue eyes. His body is well built, large framed with strong legs and large feet! Good weight and muscle tone too.  His tail is thick and tapers to a rounded tip. His coat is slightly long for preference, quite good density though with minimal shading although he is moulting too! His points are a nice shade of blue, good shape to his mask, matching but his tail is a little rusty. Excellent balanced inverted V to face correct position. Correct white feet, colour a sis permissible is on one of his legs. He is in very good condition for this time of year and I was smitten with his little “squeak”, very endearing for a boy!

MERIT TO (JUST!)EASTWOODS’ DIXYLAN STAR OF THEDREAM 40/1w 30.9.09 I really deliberated on this lass as indicated in my intro to this class above. I felt her type really lacked what was needed in this new breed in fairness.  However I marked her on pattern. On another day if she doesn’t develop better I expect I wouldn’t be so generous. Just being frank here, not meant to offend at all. Interesting that she too was nervous. She is a very slender built girl. Her head shape is fairly round but tapers to a pointed muzzle. She has medium sized ears set fairly well apart but are too wide at the base and pointed instead of rounded. Her nose is fairly short, the bite is level but her chin slopes away. Acceptable cheeks. Her eyes are round but lack much colour, mainly grey sadly. Dainty legs and small frame with small paws and of fair weight. Her tail is broad at the base but tapers to a point. Nice coat for length and is of reasonable density and texture. Dark seal almost black, which for me detracts, points match mainly, but are brindled, hopefully seasonal. Offset inverted V, white feet with some colour just above feet so this is acceptable. She relaxed far more when she was cuddled and I spent some time getting her to relax and get used to being handled! She needs to body up and be handled more.

CREAM BURMESE KITTEN

1ST ELLIS’ MAINMAN FLASH HARRY MN 13.9.09 He is a very well grown chap who for me is a little out of balance I feel today. He is a very good size and is an excellent weight with a nice firm feel to his well-muscled body; it is, however, just a trifle out of balance with his head as it needs to catch up with his body development. He has shapely slender legs with large oval paws. His tail is a nice shape tapering to a paintbrush tip and balances.  His head forms a fairly short wedge of acceptable width at the jaw hinge and tapers to a fairly blunt but pinched muzzle, which for my preference is just a little long.  His top of head is slightly rounded between somewhat large ears; they do follow the line of the wedge once he relaxes as he tends to hold them upright at times.  In profile the head has acceptable depth, the brow rounds gently, the nose is a trifle long with a slight rise to centre and it rolls off at the very tip with a reasonable nose-break. His bite is untidy but level, chin is a little shallow. His eyes are a pleasing golden yellow, set fairly wide apart, good size but I would just like a more fully rounded lower line. Even pale cream coat showing very good powder to his head and ears, he just has 2 faint necklaces and a small smudge on his belly and thighs. The coat itself is fairly short, reasonably fine and lays well. I feel he is into that difficult awkward developmental stage that some go through and hope he comes back together soon. He has a super nature and played with us!

CREAM BURMESE KITTEN FEMALE

1ST & BOB JARVIS’ KYMIAN HANNAH 31.12.09 Superbly balanced baby of the softest shade of cream, very pretty indeed and what gorgeous type! She has a good firm feel to her body with elegant legs and neat oval paws. Her tail is well shaped just a trifle short to balance, tapering to a lovely paintbrush tip. Excellent weight too. Her head forms a short blunt wedge with very good rounding to her dome both face on and in profile. Her ears are medium in size, tilt very slightly forward, are set very well apart and correctly follow the line of the wedge. In profile she has very good rounding to her brow, her nose is short and straight till it just rounds off at the very tip and her nose break is very distinctive. I loved her face on as she has excellent width at the jaw hinge and in profile the depth of the head is super. Good short muzzle too. Level bite and firm level chin. Super eyes of yellow chartreuse, the outer yellow a nice colour. Most promising shape and set to the eyes which create a super typical look so good to see in one so young. Lovely short fine close lying coat of pale soft even cream showing excellent powdering to her extremities. Minor faint necklace and a small smudge of darker cream on her belly and rear legs.

2nd. KEMPE’S OAKENSHIELD JULIETTE 15.10.09 A well grown older baby feeling firm and muscular with elegant shapely legs and neat oval paws. Well-shaped tail that just balances tapering to a rounded tip. Her head forms a short wedge that tapers to a blunt finish, just a trifle fine at the muzzle. Her ears are a little generous in size at present. They are broad at base and gently tilt forward. They are set well apart a gently rounded top of head, the outer line of which follows the line of the wedge. In profile the brow rounds gently. The nose is short but has a very slight rise to the centre and rolls off at the very tip. Excellent nose break! Good depth to her head and the chin is firm and of medium depth. Level bite. Her eyes are set well apart, pale chartreuse yellow, quite good size, lovely shape and expression developing. Fairly short close lying coat, a wee bit darker than my winners is, good powder to head and ear. The coat lays close and is a promising texture, soft cream, smudge to rear legs and faint necklace.
